The Origins of A JCPenney Outlet Store
As of today, it operates around 1,107 department stores all throughout 50 U.S. States including Puerto Rico. Besides that, they also operate catalog sales merchant offices nationwide in many small markets.
Before, most of JCPenney stores were located in downtown areas. However, by the latter half of the 20th century, shopping malls became more popular, hence, JCPenney has gone with the trend and relocated its stores to anchor malls and most are located in suburban shopping malls.
This department store offers products from clothing, footwear, furniture, to jewelry, beauty products, electronics and housewares. By the year 1998, JCPenney had started retailing over the Internet. It has improved its catalog and distribution while undergoing renovation improvements for their physical stores. In addition to selling conventional merchandise, they also house various leased departments such as Sephora, Optical, Portrait Studios and Jewelry & Watch repair.
Furthermore, as outlet stores have become a hit, JCPenney have made most of their regular stores into discount outlet stores. This is the birth of JCPenney Outlet Stores.
