Company History

Hanes was founded in 1901 as P.H. Hanes Knitting Company which manufactured men’s underwear. For years since that, the company triumphed in its products and many people got to know the brand. Because of the success of its men’s underwear lines and with the prospect of expanding into manufacturing other products, the company began producing underwear products for women. This was followed by the production of apparel items and other products. The 1970’s marked another milestone for the company. When they discovered that there plain white T-shirts were being screen- printed and were used as an outerwear top; Hanes decided to manufacture printed T-shirts and became a sensational success. This printed collection became a separate division called Hanes Printables in 1980. Hanes products are distributed worldwide by its stores, retail shops and partner distributors.
