French Connection Outlet: Controversy Gone Brand

French Connection is known internationally as being a British retailer of clothing and accessories as early as 1972. It’s notable for its quirky spin on designs on their clothes besides having good quality and affordable prices. When you visit French Connection outlets, you won’t only see clothing products but as well as men’s and women’s toiletries, sunglasses and opticals, watches and footwear.

The design and style of French Connection outlet stores themselves is a reflection of the clean, minimalist, simple signature look that the company aspires to be, meanwhile, making their products take on centre stage.

Acronym Mishap

Back in 1997, a branch from Hong Kong sent over a fax to the site in UK with the title “FCHK to FCUK”, which was intended to mean as French Clothing Hong Kong to French Connection United Kingdom. However, this spurs on a controversy of the “FCUK” acronym with its similarity to a profane word. Nevertheless, the company exploited this controversy and used it as a brand on their clothing and t-shirt messages, e.g. “fcuk fashion”, “hot as fcuk”, etc. This brought more popularity and exposure for the company especially among teenagers and young professionals.

However, this branding is not favored by some groups and the company received a lot of complaints. Hence, the UK’s Advertising Standards Authority banned a lot of ads and demanded that the company to submit all posters for approval before running them.

Sperry Outlet: Your Feet’s Buddy On the High Seas

If you like to go sailing, ride on boats, or simply just want a funky sailor look, you would definitely like wearing boat shoes. These shoes, also often known as deck shoes or topsiders, are normally made up of canvas or leather with rubber soles which generally is designed for use on boats. They’re very easy to identify, thankfully for their siping patterns that are cut into the soles to have better grip support on a wet deck. Leather tops, applied with oil, are meant to repel water. If you’d like to find great quality boat shoes, you won’t go wrong visiting Sperry Outlets.

A Brief History

In 1935, Paul Sperry, created and designed the Sperry Top-Sider, a brand of boat shoes, which are deemed to be the first boat shoes introduced in the boating market and have gained popularity since then.

As avid boater, Sperry, like many other boaters, are prone to risky injuries when walking on the slippery deck of a boat. He was inspired to design a shoe after he noticed his dog’s ability to run easily over ice or snow because of the pattern of grooves or crack on the dog’s feet. He then used a knife and cut a siping into his own shoes’ soles. Later on, with the new idea in mind, he then designed a leather upper-shoe with a herringbone pattern of groves on the sole. This manner of style of the Top-Sider was an implementation of a process of splitting or siping a shoe sole for whom John Sipe invented and patented by 1920s. Up until today, you can see these styles and patterns of boat shoes in all Sperry outlet stores.

You can find many more information about the company besides their new collections of shoes at the Sperry online outlet. On the other hand, you can find outlets and mall locations below.
