Haggar Outlet: Getting the Best Quality Slacks

Finding good pants is one of the most undervalued tasks. It may be true that you can get some pants for 20 to 50 bucks in a thrift store and it will sometimes look and feel a great deal at first fitting. However, sooner or later you’ll find out that it is made of very cheap and porous materials besides having a poor stitching which are very easy to break and torn apart. Buying cheap pants certainly isn’t really a good idea. On the other hand, buying quality and durable pants at a marked off or discounted price would be a better one. You could certainly look for one at any Haggar outlets.

Haggar Clothing Co., or much popularly known as Haggar, is a manufacturer of men’s clothing based in Dallas, Texas. You can find most of the Haggar outlet stores all across the United States, and a few of them in Canada, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.

Slacks Were Introduced

In 1926, the Haggar Clothing Company was founded by a Lebanese immigrant Joseph M. Haggar. It has been highly publicized on the ads that the company coined the word ”slacks” for men’s pants in the 1940s. However, it has been noted that word was used in reference to ”loosely cut trousers for informal wear” in the Oxford English Dictionary.

Later Developments

Haggar Corp. was bought by a group of private investors which was led by Infinite Associates back in 2005. ”Making Things Right” was their main marketing campaign to promote to and strengthen ties with retailers besides improving it’s brand’s image among consumers. Amidst its popularity, it has been referenced by popular TV shows like The Simpsons and Dingo.

This company was established by Elly R. Callawy, Jr., a former president of Burlington Industries textile company. He became popular because of his success in the textile industry, and his fondness of playing golf. It was known that at most games he plays, he used clubs from Hickory Sticks. As the company of Hickory Sticks were running low of funds, they sought out investors and one such individual they had approached was Callaway. It turned out Callaway earned a $9 million profit from the vineyard he sold which was the money he used to buy half of Hickory Sticks in 1982. In 1983, he became president and moved the company to Carlsbad. A year after, he then bought the whole company for $400,000. It wasn’t until 1988 that the company’s name was changed to its present name.
